Obviously, I don't have much interested to take a part to this discussion any longer, you will understand why after some time when you have all calmed down. But I would like to say a few things. First of all, a few users asked me why I didn't put up a donation system. There has been a donation system for ages and also a banner that gave me a few cents every time someone clicked it. These did provide me some income but nothing serious. The price of 29,95 was not my idea but the recommendation of a professional software business consultant. He studied the application and other similar products on the market and recommended that price. Of course, many people have helped me with all this. No question about it. And in the return they have got a free software for their own use. And I do understand that many of you only wish to use a registry cleaner. Ok, use RegCleaner, jv16 PowerTools 1.3.x or some other product if you don't wish to purchase PT 1.4. Also, jv16 PowerTools 1.4 is NOT a registry cleaner, it's a very flexible and advanced system maintenance tool. Take a look at: http://www.macecraft.com/php/content.php?lg=en&id=pt_features and you will see how much it can do. And last, there is no turning back. I have already hundreds of paying clients, my focus is now in serving them. To be honest with you, the release went very well, I have received dozens of positive comments about my decision and very much orders. Of course, also many people didn't like this but it's only a matter of understanding. If you would have even the slightest idea what kind of personal sacrifices I have done to get to this position you would understand.

Well jv, I guess you really don't get it or you don't really care. Your response points to the latter. That's too bad. I'm sure all those that gave you help along the way are pleased to hear that you have hundreds of NEW paying clients. Their loyalties, however, will be much different. And by the way, you do have the U.S. capitalist mindset down to a tee - congratulations! What you don't have, is the entrepreneurial wisdom to know when you've made a bad business decision - neither does your "professional software business consultant" - "you will understand why after some time." Good luck, you'll need it. P.S. you didn't do this on your own. At least have the integrity to acknowledge those who have helped you along the way! Wait, you better talk with your "professional software business consultant" first. (Edited by Hmmm at 10:42 am on July 19, 2003)

To jv... I wish you the best of luck . I was at a friends house and she had this installed I think mainly because she thinks it was a good tool to completely uninstall programs rather than use Add/Remove in her control panel. So I did the same. I know little about computers and have only had one for 3 years, but do like to try anything that sounds good .The same as I would buy a new power tool.(for my buisness EDR...I did say BUY.) I probably won't purchase this because I really have no idea what it does in the way this whole forum is talking about it. I do think that jv is on to something and i congradulate him. EDR ...You must own a car...I bet that wasn't free. You also would have paid far to much for it. Just think, jv could be a 20 year old punk out robbing your house but no.. he's busy getting an education and applying himself in ways he knows how. Anyway I am glad I stopped by to see what a forum was about and learn a little bit more about this huge world of the web. I will stick to making art and learning web designs as a hobby. Keep up your good work jv and may God Bless. PS. EDR If I renovated your house... and you perhaps handed me a nail, does that mean I should say No Charge. Sign me ... Wait...edit. I should'nt say I wouldn't buy this software.Just not at this time. But will keep an eye out for when I learn more about the benefits of it. Too old for the tech (Edited by amethyss at 10:23 am on July 19, 2003)

I am a little surprised and disappointed, even more after reading JV post. I am not surprised by the sudden commercial change, I made a copy of the 1.3 version since i saw the time limit in the 1.4 , that was obviously taking us to shareware. JV of course the software is yours and obviously you have the right to do whatever you want with it, i don't think anybody here is saying the contrary. I can't complain for your decision to give it away for money, everybody has bills to pay and i've been using it for some time now for free, so i have to thank you at the end. The point is you choose the worst way to do it and in my opinion it was more or less the same of Trillian, even if there is still a free version there. There was a community of users and contributors and it was a nice place. Do you think and feel we were using your work without giving you back anything? Maybe, but still you could have said "sorry guys, i can't afford it any more, i need money to pay my bills so next versions will be shareware". It is just being FAIR with people and honestly i don't understand why one should make people from the community upset, expecially people who are potential customers and the best advertisers around. So... why ? Best wishes, Lorenzo

Hello all, @ amethyss : As far as I've read EDR, I understand he says jv16 should sell his product I do so because I thing jv16 must earn some money for his work. I also think jv16 stops developping for home users but do now for companies. That's why he asks such price which is to much for me. Perhaps, the way he told us PT was turning shareware was a bet rude... But it doesn't matter cuz corporate users don't care about this. So now jv16PT is a shareware, and I guess this softaware will be... shared a lot, unfortunately. Best wishes,
